Artist Ginny Graybill bends the line between digital and traditional art with these colorful poster designs

m3m0r135 (memories) is a commentary on how our minds store the moments of our lives. Using a blend of color, contrast and patterns generated by code , the images blend and fade creating a hazy feel etched on a distorted poster.

The Process

Using a mixture of p5.js and Processing 4 , photographs are fed through the code to generate a range of effects and patterns.Once the image is processed, the data is fed to an XY Pen Plotter , which uses the coordinates generated by the code to move to that point on the page. The pen is bolted to the plotter and moves up and down to draw on the page.Using multiple files and pen colors generates the art.

About the Artist

Ginny Graybill a born and raised in Brunswick ME, is an artist whose creative journey has been shaped by a diverse range of influences and experiences. Growing up surrounded by art, Ginny drew inspiration from her artist mother, Mary Lou, and local painter Kat Logan, whose art shop she frequented and spent time working for during her formative years.Ginny pursued her artistic ambitions further by studying Graphic Design at Platt College in San Diego, CA. Under the mentorship of Almiede Arnell, she delved into the rich history of graphic design and poster design movements, finding inspiration in RISOGraph prints, Russian Constructivism, and New Wave Design.Ginny's artistic journey extends beyond traditional mediums into the digital realm. As a teenager, she dabbled in coding on platforms like Myspace and GeoCities using the early web as a canvas for her design experiments. This exploration laid the foundation for her later studies in Web Design and Development under the mentorship of Fred Winton.Today, Ginny's work reflects a fusion of her diverse influences, blending elements of traditional art with modern digital techniques. Her art celebrates the vibrant colors and dynamic energy of Anime while paying homage to the bold aesthetic of early punk photocopy posters. Through her work, Ginny invites viewers to explore the intersection of art, design, and technology, weaving together narratives that resonate with contemporary audiences.
